The overarching research question of the Centre for Digital Transformation in Research, Education and Business (ZeDFLoW) is: Where and how can digital transformation make a positive contribution in the areas of research/science, education and business? This question is addressed by the professors and research assistants within the framework of research and infrastructure projects that are being acquired.
The spokeswoman of the competence centre is Prof. Dr. Ulrike Padó and the deputy is Prof. Dr. Anselm Knebusch.
Thematic areas
Research on educational applications and digital teaching methods
Our competence center works on digital solutions at the intersection of research, teaching and
industry.
We work on digital teaching methods like Blended Learning, interactive AI support oder
adaptivity, to facilitate flexible and individualised learning experiences. Computersupported gradin helps to modernise testing and quickly supplies educators and learner
with reliable feedback. Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) enable students
to interact with the subject matter in new ways. We evaluate the developed methods in
practice, for example using Learning Analytics to gain insight into the learning process based
on the analysis of learners’ behavioral data.
Digitization in industry
Our research on digital industry is just as many-faceted: Industry 4.0 and Logistics 4.0 create automatisation and integration of production and delivery processes. In this context,
we also work on applications of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR), for example for human-machine interaction in production processes or for Immersive Data
Analytics. Beyond, we have expertise on Smart Buildings and Building Automation in the IoT (Internet of Things) context, which uses networked tools and systems for intelligent
applications.
