At the Centre for Integral Architecture (ZIA), an interdisciplinary team works on issues relating to new and existing buildings. Research and teaching at the Faculty of Architecture and Design is significantly influenced by an integral approach. The term integrated planning aims at a complete consideration of all planning components, objectives and processes, i.e. a holistic view. This is indispensable for a comprehensive consideration of sustainability aspects.
The long-term goal is to combine, high architectural standards of design and comfort of use with minimal environmental and resource pollution. This includes all relevant scale levels of architecture, starting with material and constructive detail, via component level and building to large urban planning contexts.
The speaker of the competence centre is Prof. Dr. Jan Cremers.
In addition to relevant simulation environments, the following tools in particular are available to this area at the HFT Stuttgart:
Projects currently include the use of daylight and the potential for using PC boards for building envelopes. But also the participation of the HFT Stuttgart in the Solar Decathlon Europe 2021 is primarily assigned to this area, whereby this very large project also includes various sub-projects from the fields of building physics and energy technology
