Vita
  • Prof. Dr. Iris Belle teaches at the master programme Smart City Solutions. She also a Leading Consultant at Drees & Sommer, Stuttgart and develops digital and sustainability concepts for cities, precincts and campuses nationally and abroad, for public and private clients. 

  • She holds a PhD in Geography from Heidelberg University and a Diploma in Architecture from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. From 2016–19, Iris researched innovations in architecture and urban planning and taught design studio as an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Tongji University, Shanghai. From 2011–15, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) and the Future Cities Lab Singapore. Prior, Iris has worked as architectural designer with gmp – von Gerkan, Marg und Partner Architekten and AREP in Beijing, China and has conceptualized events for best practice exchange and internationalization for the Beijing Architectural Design Institute. 

  • She is also a member of the Platform Citymakers China-Germany, ICOMOS Singapore, and stadtkultur e.V.  She is a registered architect with the Chamber of Architects of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg. She serves as a steering committee member at the Intelligent City Lab of the Austrian Institute of Technology.
