    Prof. Dr. Iris Belle is the dean of studies and teaches at the international master programme Smart City Solutions.

  • She holds a PhD in Geography from Heidelberg University and a Diploma in Architecture from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. From 2019–2022 she developed digital and sustainable concepts for cities and neighborhoods for public and private clients as Leading Consultant at Drees & Sommer. From 2016–19, Iris researched innovations in architecture and urban planning and taught design studio as an Assistant Professor (tenure track) at Tongji University, Shanghai. From 2011–15, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETHZ) and at the Future Cities Lab Singapore. Prior, Iris has worked as architectural designer with gmp – von Gerkan, Marg und Partner Architekten and AREP in Beijing, China and has conceptualized events for best practice exchange and internationalization for the Beijing Architectural Design Institute.

  • She is also a member of the Federal Association of Smart City Germany e.V. and ICOMOS Singapore.  She is a registered architect with the Chamber of Architects of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg.
