The Earth Builder Summit (EBS) is a scientific conference for the exchange of current research work in the field of earth building with a special focus on engineering issues. The conference is organised by the Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with Biberach University of Applied Sciences.
Following the first Earth Builder Summit 2025 in Biberach, the 2027 conference will take place in Stuttgart on 4 and 5 March. The aim of the event is to present current and ongoing research work, promote scientific dialogue between research projects and discuss future research issues.
Call for Abstracts
The Earth Builder Summit 2027 invites researchers to submit papers on current scientific issues in earth building. The aim of the conference is to present new research findings and promote scientific dialogue on current developments in this specialist field.
We are looking for contributions from the fields of structural design, materials research, building physics and new production and other innovations in earthen construction.
All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the scientific committee. Contributions may be presented as a talk or poster at the conference. There is an opportunity to publish the contributions as single-blind peer-reviewed papers in the conference proceedings.
We expressly welcome contributions from ongoing research projects with open questions.
The topics listed are for guidance only and are not exhaustive. Contributions on other issues in earth building are also welcome.
Topics include, among others:
| Statics and dimensioning | Material and production | Building physics |

Abstracts (max. 300 words) must be submitted via EasyChair, and the review process will also take place via this platform.
Timeline:
- Deadline for submission of abstracts: 31 July 2026
- Feedback until: 15 September 2026
- Paper submission deadline: 15 November 2026
Conference
The Earth Builder Summit (EBS) is a scientific conference dedicated to the exchange of current research work in the field of earth building. The focus is particularly on engineering issues relating to material behaviour, dimensioning, building physics and new production and construction methods.
The conference was first launched at Biberach University of Applied Sciences in 2025. With the Earth Builder Summit 2027, the series of events will be continued at Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with Biberach University of Applied Sciences.
The aim of the conference is to facilitate a scientific dialogue between research projects in the field of earth building and to discuss current developments in research and technology. The EBS functions as a kind of doctoral colloquium in which research projects and engineering topics are critically scrutinised and intensively discussed. In addition to specialised lectures, the conference format also offers space for thematic discussions on current research topics.
