Our interdisciplinary Summer School welcomes all students:

  • International students from all over the world, of partner universities and non-partner universities
  • HFT Stuttgart students
  • B.A. and M.A. students of all study programs within the study areas “Architecture and Design”, “Civil Engineering, Building Physics and Business Management” and “Geomatics, Computer Science and Mathematics”
  • The program language is English, therefore a level of minimum B2 in English Language is required
  • max. 25 students in total (places are limited)

02.08. - 15.08.24: Summer School programme

  • German Culture and Language: a course for all levels in- and outside the classroom (international students only) – 12h
  • Managing International Projects Workshop (all students) – 10h
  • Group Project in an international team (all students) – up to 12,5 h
  • Company visits & Expert Talks (all students)
  • Cultural program in Stuttgart and area, city tour through Stuttgart (all students), two excursions/day trips to cities in Southern Germany (propably Heidelberg and Tübingen)
  • Welcome and Farewell Event (all students)

Fee:

  • Students of a partner university of HFT Stuttgart: 990€
  • Students of a university which is not a partner of HFT Stuttgart: 1.090€
  • Students of HFT Stuttgart: 120€ (housing and public transport in Stuttgart area not included)

 

Please note: For international bank transfers, e.g. for credit cards, fees may be charged in addition to the Summer School fee and must be taken into account before the transfer is made!

Scholarships:

  • 10 scholarships of 400€ each will be awarded to international students from our partner universities
  • Be quick, because "first come, first served": Scholarships are awarded in the order in which applications are received
  • The scholarship will be paid out after completion of the summer school

 

The fee for international students (non-HFT students) includes:

  • Accommodation in a single room with shared bathroom, including breakfast at the International Student Hotel Stuttgart for 15 nights
  • German language course, project management workshop, supervision of group work and company visits
  • Cultural program in Stuttgart and the surrounding area, city tour of Stuttgart, two excursions/day trips to cities in southern Germany (bus, train, guided tours, entrance fees)
  • Catering at the welcome and farewell event
  • Public transportation within Stuttgart (02.-16.08.)
  • Administrative costs for the program

 

The fee for HFT students includes:

  • Project management workshop, supervision of group work and company visits
  • Cultural program in Stuttgart and the surrounding area, city tour of Stuttgart, two excursions/day trips to cities in southern Germany (bus, train, guided tours, entrance fees)
  • Catering at the welcome and farewell event
  • Administrative costs for the program

 

The fee does not include:

  • Meals (lunch, dinner, snacks) and drinks
  • Travel costs to and from the event / arrival and departure costs
  • Public transportation in Stuttgart on the day of arrival and departure
  • Possible visa costs
  • Insurance
  • Personal expenses
  • Possible further individual costs

 

Certificate and Credit Points:

A Certificate of Participation will be issued at the end of the Summer School including proof of 2 credit points (for successful participation; no grading).

HFT students can have 2 credit points recognized as a key qualification (upon successful participation).

The hotel in the Stuttgart-Ost district is around 25 minutes on foot from Schillerplatz and within a 2.1-km distance of such shopping venues as Schlossplatz (city centre Stuttgart).

It is sited in close proximity to Stöckach bus stop (bus no. 42) and nearby U-Bahn station “Stöckach”. It takes about 10 minutes with bus or U-Bahn to the Stuttgart main station (Hauptbahnhof) and about 15-20 minutes to the University of Applied Scienes Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart.

The rooms include sound-proofed windows, along with a writing desk for guests' comfort. Internationales Studierendenhotel features a lift, a snack and drink vending machine. There is Wi-Fi, luggage storage, lift, vending machines, leisure/TV room, washing machine, Flat-Scrreen TV and a jetted tub for guests to relax in. Attention: there are no car parking spaces available.

Buffet breakfast is served daily. Additional meals are not provided.

Stuttgart is located in the heart of Europe and therefore very easy to reach with by plane, train, bus and car.

Arrival by Train

We are happy if you travel as environmentally friendly as possible! If you are traveling by train from a European country, you can usually find the train connections on the homepage of Deutsche Bahn (www.bahn.de) or on the website of the railroad company of your country of origin.

Arrival by Plane

The airport Frankfurt/Main is recommended if you arrive from North or South America, Asia, Oceania or Africa. If you arrive from Europe, you might additionally have the possibility to arrive at Stuttgart airport.

From the airport Frankfurt/Main you can get to Stuttgart (Hauptbahnhof) by train. Further information is available on the Deutsche Bahn homepage: www.bahn.de

Arrival by Car

Public Transport in the Stuttgart area

The Hochschule für Technik Stuttgart has been training students since 1832 and has long since become a modern University of Applied Sciences. Three faculties offer more than 35 bachelor's and master's degree courses in the areas “Architecture and Design”, “Civil Engineering, Building Physics and Business Management” and “Geomatics, Computer Science and Mathematics”.

The practice-oriented education is characterized by supervision in small learning and semester units and the professional experience of all professors. A one-semester practical study project is integrated in all bachelor's programmes.
