Foreign Languages

Foreign Languages are very important at the HFT Stuttgart! The International Office offers five languages in four different types of courses and three levels. Around 64 foreign language courses take place each semester at the HFT Stuttgart.

We offer five different languages: Business English, Chinese, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

FAQ

Yes, registration is necessary for the Wednesday and the February Intensive Courses as the number of participants is limited. No registration is required for the language courses in the lecture plan.

The registration for the Wednesday and Intensive Courses is online via LSF.

Yes, attendance is compulsory in all language courses.

No placement test is required for participation in a foreign language course.

Recognition of language services is possible if

  • they aren't older than two years.
  • they have a minimum of 60 hours.
  • level and learning content corresponds to the specifications of the respective course of study.

German as a Foreign Language (VESPA-Verbund)

VESPA (VErbund für SPrachenAngelegenheiten) is a cooperation between the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences (HFT Stuttgart), the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, the Stuttgart Media University and the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, with the aim of joint language teaching across all universities.

Intensive German Courses

Course information

The dates of the intensive courses (winter term 2022/2023) will be announced in time.

The intensive courses will be held online in a virtual classroom (via Zoom). To participate in the course you will need a stable internet connection as well as a laptop/PC with camera and speakers.

The following levels are offered: A1.1, A1.2, A2.1, B1.1, B1.2, B2.1.

Semester courses German

Course information

During the summer semester 2022, the semester courses German will take place from 23.03.2022 to 22.06.2022 on Wednesdays from 14:00 to 17:15. The last day of the course is also the day of the final exam. Depending on the pandemic situation, the semester courses will be conducted online or in a face-to-face format. In case of an online format, you will need a stable internet connection as well as a laptop/PC with camera and speakers to participate in the course.

The following CEFR levels are expected to be offered:
A1.1, A1.2, A2.2, B1.1, B1.2, B2.1, B2.2, C1.1 and C1.2.

  • A1 and A2 for beginners
  • B1.1 and B1.2 for advanced learner
  • B2.1 and B2.2 for advanced learner with very good previous knowledge
  • C1 for experts (English only)

To better assess your level, you can take the integrated placement test (Speexx Placement Test). Please note the system requirements of the provider. After registration you will be asked to test your current language level. After the test you will have access to the full range of courses offered in the chosen language.
