Interior design is currently at the heart of a transformation in the construction industry: issues of sufficiency and the value of existing buildings are taking centre stage in planning and design. This anthology showcases a wide variety of projects and sustainability strategies in both practice and education.
What, how and with what materials must we build in order to create spaces capable of transformation?
Edited by Anna Tscherch, Wibke Schaeffer and Carsten Wiewiorra, this anthology brings together contributions from 38 authors and is one of the first comprehensive works on sustainable interior design in the current professional discourse.
For the first time, the contributors demonstrate how interior spaces can be conceived in a circular way – with a direct impact on affordability, health and design quality. To this end, they outline strategies from design through to execution and demonstrate the benefits of conscious material selection and a culture of repair. The academic analyses and practical examples are aimed at anyone wishing to promote responsible interior design.
