The competition is aimed at students from the fields of architecture, civil engineering, technical building services and facility management.
The VDI Society for Construction and Building Technology is now awarding the prize for the 13th time. The aim is to promote integral planning through interdisciplinary teamwork on practical tasks while students are still at university.
This year's challenge was to develop a comprehensive concept for the revitalisation of a traditional spa resort on the theme of "Think spa resort! Alexisbad for the future!". In doing so, the students had to take into account the special features of the listed buildings as well as current requirements for sustainability, energy efficiency and interdisciplinary planning.
The participating groups had already familiarised themselves with the Alexisbad location in advance, examined the site and developed initial ideas. During another visit, they presented their solutions in the form of posters and videos. The proposals showed a wide range of creative approaches in which historical elements were combined with modern utilisation concepts to appeal to new target groups.
The MAKE+ integrated project is made up of the Master of Architecture, Bachelor of Climate Engineering and Master of Structural Engineering degree programmes and combines design, technology and construction skills. A team consisting of the students Hannes Schüssler, Mario Stoll and Daniel Misch from the Climate Engineering programme, Lilli Bastian and Jill Bugenings from Architecture and Hussein Shaikhoun from Structural Engineering were particularly successful in this. We congratulate them on their well-deserved second place with the convincing design "No room for GREY! - New space for COLOURFUL!".
The integrated project "MAKE+" was supervised by Prof. Volkmar Bleicher, Prof. Dr. Uli Jakob, Prof. Sebastian Jehle, Prof. Martin Stumpf, Prof. Dr. Kathy Meiss and Prof. Manuel Rausch.
