Around 70 guests attended the 31st Mathematics Day at HFT Stuttgart last week.

Around 70 guests came to the 31st Day of Mathematics at HFT Stuttgart last week. Our professors Dr Steffen Gilg and Dr Timm Sigg had once again prepared a varied programme and organised it with Ilja Nuhu: After a welcome by HFT Rector Prof. Dr Katja Rade and a review of the year by Bachelor's degree programme Dean Prof. Dr Annegret Weng, the participants remembered Professor of Mathematics Franz-Josef Schneider, who passed away very suddenly in the summer.

In the first mathematical lecture, Prof. Dr Ingo Bednarek (Esslingen University of Applied Sciences) presented the results of his calculations on 'Juliamengen und Fatoumengen', which were also very visually appealing. The prize of the insurance companies in the Stuttgart 2025 region for the best graduates of the year was awarded by Stefan Reitz to Sevim Gülseren and Michael Meier. Prof Dr Annegret Weng explained the solution to this year's HFT maths competition and congratulated the prizewinners Sofiia Kharchukova, Vincent Diete and Antonios Zigkas.
The second mathematical lecture, given by Junior Professor Dr Balthasar Grabmayr (University of Tübingen), dealt with the "Foundations and Limits of Mathematics". The 31st Mathematics Day ended on a cosy note in Building 2.

The event was supported by LBBW and the Friends of the University. Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Bernd Göhner presented the work of the association in favour of HFT students and the new HFT Friends logo. New members are welcome - become a member now.
