Silver medal won!

A student and an alumni of the Master Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics reached the second place in the „Geomatics on the move 2020“ competition.

Mrs. Sanchalita Bandyopadhyay a student of the Master Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics and Mr. Hamidreza Ostadabbas, alumni of this programme, reached the second place in the „Geomatics on the move 2020“ competition. The esteemed competition is organised by the European GNSS Agency (GSA), in collaboration with the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE). With the developement of an interactive application for urban planning processes they won 2.000€.

With special support from Professor Behr from HFT Stuttgart and Dr. Heike Weippert from Dr. Koch GmbH, Mrs. Bandyopadhyay and Mr. Ostadabbas participated in „Geomatics on the move 2020“ competition as a representative of die STEG Team and HFT Stuttgart. The contest is organised by the European GNSS Agency (GSA), in collaboration with the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE). Our Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics alumni reached the second place with their topic „Using the synergy of QFIELD for collecting data on-site and QGIS for interactive map creation by ALKIS® data extraction and implementation in PostgreSQL for urban planning processes“.

The esteemed competition aims to foster the use of EU Satellite programs among students and young professionals to create innovative geomatics applications and solutions all over the world.

„[...] the new Contests also target applications that integrate the use of additional technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, as well as supplementary remote sensing data sources like drones. Solutions animated through mobile phone applications or other easy-to-use platforms are also welcome.“(www.clge.eu)

The project work was awarded with 2.000€ at a ceremony within the Global Surveyors Day on March 23, 2021.
