Hydrogen production requires very pure water. This thesis develops a python based decision-support tool that links urban water-balance modelling with electrolysis to prioritise non-potable sources—rainwaterand treated industrial waste water—over drinking water. In the Neckarsulm case study, combining these sources and optimising on-site storage can replace about 89% of the electrolyser’s annual water demand, reducing the use of potable water by roughly 102,000 cubic meters per year.
