After nearly two years, it’s finally here: The proceedings of the HFT Hemp Building Symposium 24 are now available!
Just in time for the second Hemp Building Symposium, the publication
“HFT Hemp Building Symposium 24 – Conference Proceedings: A Forum for Exchange and Knowledge Transfer on Building with Hemp” is being released.
The publication contains articles based on the presentations given at the first HFT Hemp Building Symposium, which took place on 11 and 12 October 2024 at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences and was organised by the Interior Design degree programme.
The focus was on one of humanity’s oldest cultivated plants – and the question of what potential hemp holds for the construction of tomorrow. Whether in combination with lime, clay, geopolymer or fungal mycelium: hemp opens up a wide range of possibilities for resource-efficient and innovative construction methods.
The symposium brought together specialist knowledge, built examples, material experiments and practical applications. Whilst the first day was devoted to discussing fundamentals, projects and current developments, the second day focused on the material itself: tamping, bricklaying, spraying and experimenting allowed participants to experience different construction methods first-hand.
The conference proceedings now make the symposium’s content and contributions permanently accessible – thereby continuing what has been important to us from the very beginning: exchange, knowledge transfer and the joint exploration of future construction with hemp.
