Verleihung des IPM Preises des Beirats

This year's award for the Master's thesis in the IPM degree programme went to Uday Marimallaiah

Congratulations on this award!

This year's prize of the advisory board of the Master's programme International Project Management was awarded to Uday Marimallaiah for his outstanding thesis during the graduation ceremony.

The Master Thesis "Validation of a Method for Measuring Fresh Concrete Pressure on Formwork Using Sensor Solutions" examines the reliability and accuracy of pressure sensors in construction projects. The primary goal is to evaluate how different formwork materials affect sensor pressure readings and to identify any potential errors in pressure measurement.

The research compares pressure data from different construction sites in Europe, evaluates existing standards (DIN, CIRIA, and ACI) for calculating maximum lateral pressure, and investigates possible manual errors during sensor deployment. The study uses data analysis, controlled laboratory experiments, and a thorough review of technical manuals and standards.

Findings reveal that potential discrepancies in sensor readings are mainly associated with the formwork materials. The study confirms that there were no errors in the pressure sensor, component production, or installation procedures.

The research concludes with recommendations for improving pressure measurement accuracy by careful consideration of formwork material properties. By addressing each objective comprehensively, this research provides a robust framework for enhancing the monitoring and management of fresh concrete pressure on formwork, ultimately contributing to safer and more efficient construction practices.

In summary, this research offers a detailed investigation into the factors affecting pressure sensor accuracy in construction, providing valuable insights and practical recommendations for industry professionals.
