Update of the mobility concept for the emission-free campus of the HFT Stuttgart

Overview

The goals of the second phase of HFTmobil are to implement the measures developed and designed in the first phase and to hire a mobility manager.

Building on the HFT vehicle fleet, which has been electrified in recent years, a sharing system is to be introduced for the efficient use of vehicles.

Furthermore, an already conceived Mobility Summerschool is to be prepared and carried out. International and interdisciplinary student groups will be supported to face the mobility challenges of the current time in think- and hackathons. They will be supported by trainers and start-up founders and receive input and workshops on the topic of start-ups and mobility solutions.

Another area of work will examine the legal and organizational framework for the introduction of a mobility subscription. The influence of a mobility subscription on the mobility behavior of students and employees will also be examined.

A further task is the regular monitoring of emissions and the development of a system that shows the positive influences of the individual measures on the climate friendliness of mobility.

Research questions

  • How can the mobility of students and employees be made sustainable in the long term?
  • What is the impact of the designed measures when implemented in terms of actual emission reduction?
  • What are the prerequisites for the implementation of a mobility subscription and what effect can it have?

Scientific approach and methods

  • Evaluation of the implemented measures through qualitative and quantitative surveys
  • Implementation of a summer school with the international partners of the HFT and analysis of international approaches to improve sustainable mobility
  • Assessment of the implied benefits in terms of sustainability
  • Hiring of a mobility manager
  • Conception and feasibility study for a mobility subscription
  • Development of an implementation strategy until 2030

Targeted results

Preparation of an HFT mobility concept for the 2030 time horizon and establishment of a monitoring system.
