HFT Stuttgart co-organizes international conference on Digital Twins for Resilient Urban Environments – Call for Papers

The 4th edition of the Resilience Symposium, Digital Twins for Resilient Urban Environments (DTRUE) 2026, invites researchers, practitioners and students to submit contributions on the application of digital twin technologies to urban design and planning.

The international conference will take place on 19–20 November 2026 at the University of Florida – Jacksonville Campus. It is organized in partnership by the University of Florida, Universidad de Cuenca, HFT Stuttgart – Stuttgart Technical University of Applied Sciences and the Paris-based think tank Urban AI.

DTRUE 2026 focuses on how urban digital twins can support more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable urban environments. Digital twins are AI-powered virtual replicas of physical systems that enable real-time monitoring, predictive modeling and scenario testing. In urban contexts, they can help integrate urban infrastructure, natural ecosystems and socioeconomic dynamics to support disaster response, climate resilience and informed decision-making.

Researchers from the fields of urban planning, architecture, AI, data science, environmental modeling, environmental risk analysis, public health and community resilience, as well as practitioners and students in these areas, are invited to submit work that leverages digital twin technologies to build resilient cities.

The Call for Papers welcomes contributions across three tracks: Technologies for Urban Digital Twins, Digital Twin Applications for Resilience and Public Participation & Ethics in Urban Digital Twins. Topics include AI, data science, interoperability, XR/AR/VR, simulation platforms, IoT, BIM/GIS integration, disaster risk management, infrastructure, public participation, governance, education and heritage.

HFT Stuttgart is glad to support the symposium's success, serving on the organizing and scientific committee with Prof. Dr. Volker Coors, Juan Sardi Barzallo, Prof. Dr. Dieter Uckelmann, Prof. Dr. Michael Krone, Prof. Dr. Philipp Reinfeld.

Submissions are invited as extended abstracts of 500–750 words or as short video “abstracts”. The Day 1 Video Session, held in lieu of a traditional poster session, offers an opportunity to showcase digital twin developments, case studies or supporting tools in an engaging and interactive format. Full papers will be submitted for peer review and publication in the conference proceedings after the conference.
