Julian Petrin has been working for more than 20 years as a research practitioner and practice-oriented researcher in the field of urban development with a focus on co-creating urban strategies and future scenarios. With his company urbanista, founded in 1998, Petrin advises local authorities, companies and associations throughout Germany on urban development issues and develops strategies with them to meet technological, social and ecological challenges, including the digitalisation of processes and structures in the city. From 2013 to 2015 Julian Petrin was a visiting professor for urban management at the University of Kassel. Since 2011 he has been a member of the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning. In 2012 Petrin was appointed to the Convention of the Federal Foundation for Building Culture. Among other things, he was a member of the expert council of the Initiative Zukunftsstadt, the interministerial working group "Smart City Charta" of the federal government and has been a member of the advisory board of the International Building Exhibition Thuringia since 2016. Prof. Dr. Julian Petrin was appointed to the HFT Stuttgart for the winter semester 2020/21.

Prof. Martin Stumpf, field of study: structural theory

Martin Stumpf studied "Structural Engineering" at the Technical University of Dortmund. In 2000 he started at wh-p GmbH Beratende Ingenieure, where he has been managing partner since 2010. In 2013 he founded the branch office in Basel, which he has managed since then. At the FH Nordwestschweiz he was lecturer for structural analysis for four years. His projects include various high-rise buildings in Basel in cooperation with the architects Herzog & de Meuron as well as the wide-span roof structure of the NürnbergMesse "Mitte entrance" with kadawittfeld architecture. He is currently responsible for the Hamburg Elbe Tower with David Chipperfield Architects. Together with Henning Larsen Architects he is developing a modular wood-hybrid structure. At the HFT Stuttgart he wants to teach the development of load-bearing structures with intelligent concepts. Understanding the load flow opens up the possibility of developing architecturally significant and at the same time economical and sustainable load-bearing structures. Promoting and deepening this among students and in the professional world will be an essential part of his work at the HFT Stuttgart. Prof. Martin Stumpf was appointed to the HFT Stuttgart for the winter semester 2020/21.

Prof. Dr. Jakob von Heyl, Department: International Project Management

After completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter, Jakob von Heyl obtained a diploma in industrial engineering at the University of Stuttgart. This included an academic year at the Universidade da Coruña in Spain. His diploma thesis dealt with the application of lean management methods in the construction industry. He then spent three and a half years at Drees & Sommer in the areas of project management as well as organization, process and PPP consulting, and subsequently worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Construction Management at the University of Stuttgart. His research focused on the search for a meaningful combination of classic project management with the topics of Building Information Modeling and modern management approaches such as Agile Design Management and Lean Construction. After completing his doctorate, he returned to Drees & Sommer as a manager and built up the Smart Infrastructure Services competence area before being appointed Managing Director of LCM Digital GmbH. Prof. Dr. Jakob von Heyl was appointed to the HFT Stuttgart for the winter semester 2020/21.
