In total, students from the MoVe Competence Centre’s 2026 ‘Mobility and Transport’ Summer School under the direction of Prof. Dr Lutz Gaspers worked together in ten international teams to tackle key challenges of the urban mobility transition. Alongside participants from HFT Stuttgart, students from UNB Fredericton (Canada) and BUas Breda (Netherlands) were also involved. Students on the Master’s programme in Transport Infrastructure Management at HFT Stuttgart were specifically integrated into the summer school and actively contributed their specialist expertise to the project work. Each group worked on case studies from cities with which the participants were personally familiar – often their home towns. This resulted in well-founded and practical concepts for various urban areas, including Stuttgart, Fredericton (New Brunswick), Halifax (Nova Scotia), Arlington (Texas) and Kuwait City. The results will be presented in the form of posters at the HFT Stuttgart.
The week was characterised by intensive project work, expert input and field trips. Particular mention must be made of the open and collaborative working atmosphere, in which the international group quickly came together as a team. Alongside successful outcomes, personal connections and new friendships were also formed. Special thanks go to the MoVe team – in particular Dennis Dreher and Lynn Mosesku – for their dedicated guidance and support throughout the programme.
The next Summer School is scheduled for late April 2027. The MoVe Competence Centre looks forward to continuing this international exchange.
