Waldhof Campus

Revitalisation of a farm domain into a teaching centre for forestry

Master's Thesis | Katharina Mayer | 4th Semester | Summer Semester 2025

The master's thesis is dedicated to the revitalization of vacant agricultural buildings using the example of the Waldhof state domain in the Zollernalb district. The aim is to create a campus for forestry teaching and communication through respectful conversion.

The design combines old and new into a functional overall concept that creates new qualities through sustainable interventions, efficient spatial solutions and a strong exterior and interior concept. In this way, the endangered building is transformed into a place of the future - for forests, knowledge and change.

"What a man has for himself, what accompanies him into solitude, and no one can give or take from him: this is much more essential than anything he possesses or what he is in the eyes of others."

- Arthur Schopenhauer
