He passed away on 21 January 2023 at the age of 75. From 1985 to 1990 he was Professor of Construction and Design at our university, and subsequently served as a university councillor at the HFT from 2003 to 2012.

Since completing his studies in 1976, he has left his mark on the architectural discourse through his built work, but also to a particularly large extent through his words and writings, and early on in his teaching. Building on a consistently high-quality body of work with an independent and consistent language, he adopted a stance that was definitely in contrast to other Stuttgart positions. As a very individual thinker, he was an extremely committed and demanding teacher with outstanding rhetorical talent, who approached students with great empathy. In this way, he had a lasting influence not only on the teaching of architecture here at the HFT Stuttgart, but later also on that at the universities in Karlsruhe (1990-2005) and Stuttgart (2005-2014). Until the end, there were intensive personal relationships with the former and active circle of colleagues, which we appreciated very much. We look back with gratitude on the time we spent together.

The deep sympathy of the Faculty of Architecture and Design and the university goes to the relatives of Prof. Arno Lederer.
