Vita

  • Until 2022 Philipp Reinfeld was the »Akademischer Rat« and deputy head of the Institute of Media and Design at the Department of Architecture, TU Braunschweig. Reinfeld studied architecture at TU Berlin (Dipl.-Ing.) and architecture and urban research at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg (M. Arch.). In 2016, he gained his doctorate at the Institute for Architectural Theory and Architectural History at the University of Innsbruck. His dissertation was titled Image-Based Architecture. Fotografie und Entwerfen (»Image-Based Architecture: Photography and Designing«) and was published by Wilhelm Fink in 2018. From 2006 to 2008 he was an artistic assistant at the postgraduate study program for architecture and urban research at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg in the class of Prof. Arno Brandlhuber. He had teaching assignments at the Köln International School of Design (KISD) of TH Köln and Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau. From 2006 to 2013 Reinfeld was a partner in the architecture practice BOOM/ERA in close project cooperation with brandlhuber+. Reinfeld is the co-editor of the publication series »Architektur der Medien | Medien der Architektur« (Architecture of Media | Media of Architecture) with Kassandra Nakas, published by Brill | Fink.

Misc.

Philipp Reinfeld examines how the reception and production of architecture and the city are affected by spatial representation in visual media. At the Institute of Media and Design, he has been leading the teaching research focus »Architectural Design in Virtual Reality,« which he founded in 2016 and which was included in the TU Braunschweig’s »Innovationsprogramm Gute Lehre« (»Good Teaching Innovation Program«) in 2019/20, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
