Point 7 – Lecture series – Philip Stapel

They will discuss their personal approaches, strategies and experiences in project implementation. Their individual attitudes towards architectural and building culture issues will also be examined. We will gain insights into their respective work and the people behind it.

This year's Point 7 at the HFT Stuttgart brings together three current positions from architecture and urban planning – with very different perspectives on the relationship between city, countryside and built space.

We are looking forward to welcoming Philip Stapel (Octagon Architekturkollektiv, Leipzig), Sergio Marazzi / Andreas Reinhardt (Marazzi Reinhardt ARCHITEKTEN SIA BSA, Winterthur) and Sven Fröhlich (AFF Architekten GmbH, Berlin).

In cooperation with the Architektur-Forum Baden-Württemberg: Wege, Plätze und Versorgung – Infrastruktur im Wandel (Architecture Forum Baden-Württemberg: Roads, Squares and Supply – Infrastructure in Transition), three further Point 7 lectures will taking place from December onwards. First up is:

Philip Stapel | Octagon Architecture Collective, Leipzig
‘Urban transformation as social practice’ on 6 November 2025, 7 p.m.
Octagon is an interdisciplinary planning laboratory for strategies of social coexistence in the cross-scale fields of urban planning, architecture and open space. Its particular expertise lies in the transformation of urban spaces in complex existing contexts. Its planning focuses on social added value, resource-saving practices and climate adaptation.
Philip Stapel (born 1979) is a co-founder, architect and carpenter. After training and studying in Leipzig and Istanbul, he worked in architectural firms, soon followed by work on his own projects in the collective. He conveys a critical understanding of architecture in lectures, teaching assignments and participatory formats accompanying planning processes.
