Business Information Systems Engineering as an independent discipline has emerged from Business Administration (BWL) and Computer Science. It deals with current practical and scientific questions concerning computer-aided information processing in business. The focus is on the management of operationally relevant information. This includes in particular the planning, development, introduction and operation of enterprise software, but also the use of information technology for innovative business models (e.g. e-business, mobility services).
