The bachelor's degree program in Augmented Reality / Virtual Reality Engineering provides you with an in-depth understanding of the development of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies, building on sound mathematical and technical foundations and soft skills. The focus is on the engineering of complex systems for AR and VR applications in companies with an industrial focus.

The extensive range of compulsory electives covers key application areas of augmented and virtual reality, including specialist topics. At HFT Stuttgart, you will gain intensive project experience through group, study and company projects, such as a supervised internship semester and your final thesis.

If you have any questions about our new degree program, simply give us a call or send us an email - we will then work with you to find an appointment for a Zoom call/phone call with the Dean of Studies, who will be happy to answer your questions:

Bachelor of Science (B.SC.)

The study

Basic studies

The foundation course (semesters 1 and 2 up to the Bachelor's preliminary examination) teaches you the basics of computer science, mathematics and business administration and introduces you to sensor technology, 3D visualization and programming. At the same time, you will acquire key qualifications such as foreign language skills in English.

Semester
1-2

Part 1 of the main study program

In the second year of study (3rd and 4th semesters), modules such as AR/VR development and authoring systems as well as input/output systems, spatial data and database systems, software engineering and distributed systems lay a broad foundation for the design and implementation of AR/VR solutions in a wide range of application areas. The skills acquired will be used in parallel in a first major AR/VR group project.

Semester
3-4

Supervised practical study project

In the supervised practical study project, you will deepen your acquired skills in practical application in a company. At the same time, the modules Project Management, Presentation Techniques and AR/VR User Experience Design provide you with further key qualifications.

Semester
5

Part 2 of the main study program

In the 6th and 7th semesters, the focus is on deepening your knowledge in an individual focus area, for which you choose five elective modules from a wide range. In a comprehensive AR/VR project, you will also implement a practice-oriented task in a team of up to 25 students.

Thinking outside the box!

Our partner universities

There are also other opportunities. For example, Go Australia regularly organizes information events at the HFT, through which several students have already gone to Australian universities. There are also contacts with the Australian research organization CSIRO, which is represented at numerous locations with different research focuses.
