Master's Thesis | Tim Ganßleben | 4th Semester | Summer Semester 2024
The steady decline of farms in rural areas, caused by the ongoing industrialisation of the food sector, is changing the character of traditional agricultural landscapes in many places. Despite the decline in the number of farms, people's interest in regional and organic products is growing. But how can these contradictory trends be reconciled? "Brett für Brett" uses the example of an old farm in Upper Franconia to show how old structures can be revitalised and transformed through contemporary usage concepts. Sustainable regional agriculture, the enjoyment of seasonal products on site and the possibility of overnight stays and cooking evenings are intended to secure the regional value chain and bring it back into focus. It also shows how old farm buildings can be turned into lively community centers that preserve the cultural heritage and at the same time give the village a new identity.
