Project work "Neckar Kapern" receives recognition at the 0711 Contest

The student work by Elias Evirgen, Oliver Käpplinger, Niklas Slowy and Julian Wagner was among the best 10 submitted works.

For the sixth time, the FIVE Stuttgart Chamber Groups of the Chamber of Architects offered the 0711 Contest, in which there was lively participation – a total of 93 students from the University of Stuttgart, Academy of Fine Arts, University of Applied Sciences, IU Stuttgart submitted their work. All designs dealt with the architecture, urban planning and landscape planning of Stuttgart. The award ceremony took place on 05 July 2023 at Stuttgart City Hall with patron Peter Pätzold.

In addition to the award-winning work "Neckar Kapern", supervised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Philipp Dechow, there are a further seven works from the Faculty of Architecture and Design whose submission was successful. They belong to the category of "selected works".

The awarded and selected works will be on display at Stuttgart City Hall until July 27, 2023.

On the website of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, all the works awarded and selected by the jury will be shown in detail.

Congratulations to all students whose work successfully participated in the competition!

Neckar Kapern

The problems of the Neckar in the Stuttgart region are well known – the river is inaccessible, there are hardly any leisure facilities and planning takes a long time. The project "Neckar Kapern" addresses these problems. The implementation and co-design is to be democratized through an app and reallabs. In this way, temporary interventions can also be created and all citizens are given the opportunity to shape their river.

The app offers an interactive map on which desired measures or interventions can be located by citizens. These locations can be seen, liked or pinned by users to identify places with acute need for action. In addition, small and temporary interventions such as urban gardening or self-built furniture can be realized independently via crowdfunding.
