SUMMARY:Exhibition ‘Bioregional Building Materials’ in the IBA'27 space
DESCRIPTION:As a temporary part of the IBA'27 exhibition, seminar results f
rom students at the University of Applied Sciences on the topic of ‘bioregi
onal building materials’ will be presented in the ‘WOMIT BAUEN’ category. H
ow can local raw materials and waste be turned into innovative building mat
erials?\n\nIn the summer semester of 2025, students researched and analysed
which local raw materials from geological and biological deposits as well
as industrial and agricultural products are available in the Upper Palatina
te region. The focus was on the question of which waste materials are gener
ated within local value chains and what potential lies in their recycling.
In cooperation with local stakeholders, raw materials were collected and t
ested in small field trips and their building material potential was tested
in practical experiments. Tests with different compositions open up vision
s of how the use of bioregional materials can contribute to the building re
volution. The strategy could also be transferred to other regions - such a
s Baden-Württemberg, or specifically the Stuttgart region. Cooperation pro
ject between the HFT Stuttgart and the Denk- & Macherei - a cross-semester
and interdisciplinary compulsory elective subject of the Interior Architect
ure degree programme at the Faculty of Architecture and Design. There will b
e a guided tour of the exhibition on 25 September 2025 at 5:30 pm.Afterward
s there will be music, drinks and networking.
Come along, bring colleagues
& friends - and discover how bioregional building materials can shape the f
