Innovative university

M4_LAB stands for "Metropolitan Region 4.0 - Innovation and transfer from transdisciplinary research for energy-efficient urban development, sustainable management and production in the Stuttgart Metropolitan Region" This transfer project at the HFT Stuttgart is funded by the federal and state initiative "Innovative University".

Goals of the M4_LAB

The aim of the transfer project is to make much greater use of the internationally recognised HFT research strengths in urban development, digitisation and other areas. Our activities in the construction industry, the MINT subjects and economics are to be made accessible on a low-threshold basis via a digital transfer portal and exchange opportunities in innovation rooms open to practice. Ideas, solutions and innovations are to be further developed together with partners from industry, local government and civil society.

The focus is on the development of a strategy for a climate-neutral region with sustainable mobility concepts and sustainable industrial production. The ten-year process of an International Building Exhibition (IBA 2027), which began in 2017, is used in the M4_LAB project and offers a unique opportunity to actively accompany a changing metropolitan region, for example through participatory research.

The Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation (WRS) is our central cooperation partner for this project.
