What can you expect in the orientation week?

As one of few universities in Germany, the HFT Stuttgart offers you a compact orientation week to help you start your studies. During our orientation week you will have the opportunity

  • get to know the university and your fellow students as well as the professors,
  • obtain information from central institutions, such as the library, examination office, student advisory service or from the centre for teaching and learning,
  • to learn tips and tricks for your studies from tutors from higher semesters,
  • to learn important competences by working on a project task specific to your course of study and
  • to reflect on your learning strategies with qualified trainers.

The orientation week takes place in this special year both in person at the HFT and online. Due to the corona pandemic, the attendance phases are carried out in small groups at different times. Please read the e-mails carefully and find out exactly when you have to be at the university and when courses take place online. Under the following link you will find the specific schedule including the attendance and online phases for your study program.

Refresher Mathematics - our recommendation for all technical and economic study courses!

Experience has shown that in many subjects the start of studies is strongly dependent on knowledge of mathematics. For this reason, the HFT Stuttgart offers you the opportunity to repeat relevant basics before you actually start your studies. As a first-year student, you can use this opportunity to close any gaps in your knowledge of mathematics and are well prepared for technical or business studies. It is best to register right here:

Questions about the start of your studies

The student department and the student advisory service at the HFT Stuttgart are your first point of contact for information concerning your studies. Your questions regarding the organisation of your studies (e.g. beginning and course of studies, lectures and examinations, fees, internships and forms) are answered here. Further specific questions can also be answered by the student advisory service. They will help you start your "student life" and accompany you on your way through your studies.

Studying against the background of the Corona pandemic

Since mid-March 2020 at the latest, the world has changed, the corona pandemic has a firm grip on us and we all have to learn to deal with the changed situation. As in many other universities, almost all lectures at the HFT Stuttgart were held online in the past summer semester. The examinations could successfully held in person according to a strict hygiene concept. For the upcoming winter semester, the majority of lectures will again be held in digital form, but we would like to increase the attendance rate. Lectures with attendance times at the HFT Stuttgart will be offered especially for first-year students. In order to realize this, strict corona rules apply to which everyone must adhere. Please inform yourself regularly about the current status via our Corona Update.

WhatsApp group "HFT for you"

As an additional service for our first-year students, the Marketing & Press Office launches the WhatsApp group "HFT for you" at the beginning of each semester. You will receive an invitation to this shortly before the start of the orientation week. During the first weeks of the semester, "HFT for you" will provide you with al kinds of information about the start of your studies directly on your smartphone. Participation and use of the WhatsApp group is voluntary.
