... .SEE YOU ZOOM...

Stay at home. That was the motto. For my students and for me. Nevertheless, there was no time to chill out, the HFT Stuttgart and its own Centre for Teaching and Learning would like to implement the workshop "Successfully leading team meetings" from the Extracurricular Studies programme online.

Online vs. presence. Takeover 1:1 ? Whoever thinks so is wrong. But completely. For those who care: Preparation time = 1 week. Here is a little insight into the whole thing:

I can see everyone. And so can you. The challenge, but for me a Must in communication workshops: Video & Audio = ON. In a presence workshop we all see each other too. It takes some getting used to. Because you perceive virtual breaks and quiet moments much more intensively than in the classroom. You have to endure that and stay relaxed. Occasionally, you also get to know your mother when putting away the laundry or your girlfriend who scurries through the picture. The technology keeps you permanently busy. If the lines hold, everything works perfectly. Does the screen-sharing work for everyone and will "calls for help" from the breakout sessions also reach me? In the end it worked great. Of course we didn't watch eachother for 8 hours, that would be too much of a good thing for everyone. Thanks to breakout-sessions at zoom you can create small working units out of large groups. The good thing for the students is that they can be alone.

Ingenious alternative and absolutely sustainable. The more online courses I give, the more fun I have. And I learn something new every time - even from my students. In the future, we will definitely integrate them into the daily teaching routine. There's still plenty of room for improvement...
