Whether individual advice on general topics in teaching, e-learning, project- and problem-oriented learning, curriculum development or qualitative teaching evaluation: an experienced team of University Teaching Experts supports professors at the HFT Stuttgart in all matters concerning their teaching activities.

In addition, this team determines didactic topics for the university's own annual programme of events. In addition, events such as the Day of Teaching or the awarding of the university's own teaching prize regularly provide new impulses and give cause for further development and reflection.

Offers

Events are offered especially for lecturers, providing space for exchange and inspiration on the following university didactic topics: Teaching and learning, examining, advising, evaluating and innovating. Information on the current event program and registration can be found on our Wiki page.

Teachers can find further workshops on university didactics topics at the GHD.

In addition, the "Neckar-Connection", a cooperation between the HFT Stuttgart and the Hochschule Esslingen, the Hochschule der Medien Stuttgart, the Hochschule Reutlingen and the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Umwelt Nürtingen-Geislingen, provides teachers with further university didactics courses.

The quality of studies and teaching is a central concern of HFT Stuttgart. Our GOOD TEACHING qualification program for newly appointed professors, comprising 120 work units, is therefore also an integral part of the appointment agreement. As part of the qualification program, professors have access to various individual consulting and support services, a variety of workshops on university didactics topics as well as numerous collegial exchange and networking formats from which they can choose according to their needs.

For lecturers we offer individual advice and support services as well as networking events:

SkiLL organizes the annual Day of Learning and Teaching, which is aimed at teachers, students and other interested parties. With a different motto each year, the aim of the event is to

  • to learn about best-practice examples within and outside HFT, take away new ideas and be inspired
  • to contribute your own ideas and get into conversation
  • to use the space for exchange and reflection

Every two years, HFT Stuttgart honors special commitment to teaching by awarding the university's own teaching prize. The aim is to recognize particularly motivated and committed teachers who inspire their students for the subject and successfully plan and conduct their courses didactically.

The evaluation committee selects a winner based on the evaluation criteria derived from the HFT Stuttgart's mission statement for teaching and learning. The evaluation committee is composed as follows:

  • Vice-Rectorate for Studies and Teaching
  • one member of the Dean's Office per faculty
  • one student per faculty and one StuPa member
  • two external committee members from university didactics

The last teaching award was presented on 07.06.2023 as part of the Day of Learning and Teaching 2023.
